TCSI COO RECEIVES 2020 WOC STEM TECHNOLOGY RISING STAR AWARD

Last month, our very own COO, Samantha L. Allen, was recognized, along with 3 other women at her organization and a number of women across the country, as an outstanding Woman of Color in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) field.

Samantha was selected as a recipient of a 2020 Technology Rising Star Award, granted to select young women, with under 15 years in the workforce, who are helping to shape technology for the future. She was honored at a special recognition event during this year’s WOC STEM Conference in October!

In addition to her full-time work as a cybersecurity engineer and project manager, Samantha serves as a member of her employer’s ATLAS internship program committee, playing a major role in recruiting STEM students from minority-serving institutions, while standing as a formal and informal mentor to undergraduate- and graduate-level students in the program and from her alma maters. She is an active member of the alumni leadership organizations at both Hampton University’s Computer Science Department and Carnegie Mellon University’s Information Networking Institute, in addition to being a leader and mentor here at The Cyber Security Intellects.

Samantha was also recognized for her past volunteer work as a mentor for an all-girls robotics team and elementary school math tutor, which has increased student interest in STEM fields and helped secure STEM-related internships.

Check out this article outlining her impactful contributions to the areas of STEM Outreach and mentoring.
